A personalised book about Candy Land

Rivers of chocolate, trees made of lollipops and a land where everything can be eaten. Your child is the hero, drawn from your photo.

Create the book

Why the theme Candy land makes a good book

An adventure that suits the child

Candy Land takes one of a child's strongest wishes and turns it into an entire country. The houses are made of gingerbread, the stones of marzipan and the rain tastes of squash. It's fun just to imagine, and between the covers it becomes a game of colours and flavours your child can almost taste. But there's room for something more: what happens when a house made of sugar starts melting in the sun, or when someone wants it all for themselves? A sweet adventure can carry a wise thought about sharing.

Sweet problems to solve

In Candy Land your child can save a sugar village from melting, help a toffee-maker who has lost her recipe or mend a bridge of liquorice laces before the jelly frogs need to cross. Perhaps the King of Candy Land has eaten the whole country's stores himself, and now nobody else gets any. Then it's your child who finds a way to share so there's enough for everyone. It could also be a day when everything in the land has suddenly turned sour, and your child must find out who's behind it. Along the way there are waffle bridges and streams of squash to jump over.

Your child's favourite flavours

The theme becomes most your child's own when you write in what they love. Is it cinnamon buns, strawberries, popcorn or fizzy sour sweets? Do you have a tradition of Saturday sweets, a grandma who bakes seven kinds of biscuits, or a memory of a party where the cake collapsed? All of it can become places and things in the land. A brother or sister who only eats the green ones can rule over the mint forest.

For the youngest it's colours, shapes and yum. Pre-schoolers love seeing everything that can be eaten and taking a simple journey through the land. School-age children enjoy a problem that's a bit bonkers, like a melting town or a quarrel between chewy sweets and hard ones, while the oldest can have a twist about what you really need to be happy.

Draw a map of the land

Draw a map of your own Candy Land on a big sheet of paper: where are the ice-cream mountains, where does the river of squash flow, where does the marzipan man live? You could build a little house from crackers and a bit of icing. A book about sweets can also lead into the kitchen – anyone who wants to make the sweet stuff for real can carry on with the theme baking. Talk about which sweet would be best for building houses, and which would be worst in the rain.

Your child is the hero

You fill in the child's name, age and what they like, and upload a photo. The story about Candy Land is written for your very own child, and the thirteen pictures and the cover are drawn from the photo in the style you choose. Brothers and sisters, parents, grandparents or the pet can come along, up to five characters. If you would like to include something that has happened lately, a trip or a lost tooth, just write it and it is woven in.
